Warner Bros Hires Two Screenwriters for Aquaman Movie

After all the rumors, the dust has begun to settle and we are beginning to see the pieces fall together in Warner Bros’ DC plan. One of the largest mysteries has been what the studio’s plan is for their big-screen interpretation of Aquaman. There have been multiple sources who have claimed the character is in the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film and Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) has lined up the role. In July, we got the scoop directly from Momoa at the Evolution Expo where he “saw himself as more of an anti-hero.” Which is exactly how the character is being interpreted in modern media whether it’s the comics New 52 or the upcoming animated movie Throne of Atlantis, he is seen as a royal warrior and a man of action.

Today The Hollywood Reporter announced that official progress has been made on the Aquaman movie. While there is still yet to be an official announcement on casting, Warner Bros has hired a couple of writers for the film, Will Beall (Gangster Squad) and Kurt Johnstad (300: Rise of the Empire). However they are not co-writing the film. Warner Bros. is having a script-off, whoever has the better Aquaman script, gets their take put into production. Competition is supposed to bring the best out of people, but it does signify something even greater. WB is eager to get this film into production as soon as possible.  Most likely to fill one of their open release dates in 2016-2017.

It is a little curious that there is movement on Aquaman before hearing news on a Wonder Woman feature film. While the Momoa casting seems to be legit, Gal Gadot has long been officially cast and even a publicity shot of her has been released. Wonder Woman is certainly the more iconic of the two and seemingly ready for prime-time, but this news is actually not surprising historically.

So what do you think about Aquaman getting ready for his big-screen debut? Let us know and !
