When it was first announced that there would be a sequel to the classic National Lampoon Vacation series, there was a collective sigh from the blogosphere. Although the thought of seeing Ed Helms as a grown up Rusty did seem inspired, the confusion went into overdrive when it was announced that Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth would be joining the madcap comedy as well. However, when the first trailer was released last month the confusion quickly turned to laughter. It seemed that not only would the original series be respected, it would be built upon in some hilarious ways.
Well, anyone can get lucky throwing together one good trailer. Now we get a second look at the tone and humor that we can expect this summer from Vacation. While the film firmly fits in modern times, complete with a modern soundtrack and sensibilities, even from the short look you can tell the spirit of the original has been respected. At the same time it looks like they are going to be pushing the boundaries with their R rating.
The cast looks solid with Chevy Chase reprising his role as Clarke Griswold and a supporting cast featuring Leslie Mann, Charlie Day, Keegan-Michael Key, Michael Pena, and more. It looks like every stop on their roadtrip will be full of hilarity. This looks like the comedy to beat this summer. Enjoy the trailer.
