WATCH: Marvel Unveils DAREDEVIL’s Red Costume & A New Clip from the Upcoming Show

In less than twenty-four hours Marvel Studios will be moving into a more mature and gritty part of their cinematic universe. There has been a lot of excitement building for Daredevil, their first TV show in partnership with Netflix. The early word is that the first season is a success. Unlike their other films and shows, Daredevil will take thirteen hours to tactfully tell the story of blind lawyer Matt Murdock, who by night runs the streets of New York’s Hell’s Kitchen as the vigilante, Daredevil.

In an unprecedented marketing move for Marvel Studios, they managed to keep Daredevil’s final costume under wraps until the day before the release. Since the producers of Daredevil have 13 episodes to tell their story, we will witness the logical progression of Murdock into the hero that we are familiar with from the comics. Up until today, Marvel had chosen to only feature the blind vigilante in his black ninja suit, which originated in the pages of Frank Miller’s run on Daredevil in the comics. Marvel just released the first promo featuring the red suit (which we first reported on in December), which probably won’t show up until near the end of the first season.

The suit is clearly influenced by the Secret Wars version of the costume from the comics, which features a red and black design that gives the impression of added armor. Given that Murdock is blind, it will be interesting to see how the writers organically integrate the high-tech looking suit into the show. Regardless we will only have to wait until tomorrow to find out…
