WATCH: New Clip and Trailer for IP MAN 3 ft. Bruce Lee and Mike Tyson

For all of you martial arts and kung fu aficionados out there, the story of Ip Man continues… Ip Man 3 has already been released in Hong Kong and is doing very well – even knocking The Force Awakens from the top spot at the box office. And you can catch a glimpse at what moviegoers in China are going crazy over, with this new clip that was just released.

Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen reprises his role as martial arts master Ip Man (Yip Man in China) and meets his most famous student, the legendary Bruce Lee who is played by Kwok-Kwan Chan, or Danny Chan. In this clip, Bruce finds Ip Man and wants him to train under him and to be his disciple. In a test to see just how fast Lee is, Ip Man starts flicking cigarettes at him to see if he can kick them away – this will definitely put buts in seats when the film opens in the U.S.

Here is the official synopsis for the film:

“Donnie Yen ignites the screen in a return to the role that made him an icon – as Ip Man, the real-life Wing Chun grandmaster who mentored Bruce Lee. In this explosive third installment of the blockbuster martial arts series, when a band of brutal gangsters led by a crooked property developer (Mike Tyson) make a play to take over the city, Master Ip is forced to take a stand. Fists will fly as some of the most incredible fight scenes ever filmed play out on the big screen in this soon-to-be genre classic.”

Bruce Lee is well known across the globe, but not too many people know about Yip Man, the master teacher and creator of Wing Chun martial arts. He died in December of 1972, fighting a battle with throat cancer – this was only seven months before the death of Bruce Lee. The film series began in 2008 with Ip Man, followed by its sequel Ip Man 2 in 2010. Yen elaborates on the story and why he is coming back to play the iconic character.

“I think people only knew him as the teacher of Bruce Lee, so you only saw the character in films about him, kind of a supporting character. When you learn more about Ip Man, you realize that he had a really incredible life, and a huge influence on the martial arts world, in his own right. Maybe the right combination of elements didn’t come together until now to tell his story.”

2016 is going to be a great year for Donnie Yen. Not only is he in Ip Man 3, but was also cast in the first Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One, which is coming out in December of 2016. Along with that, Asian cinema fans will be delighted to hear he is returning for a sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny.

Ip Man 3 opens on January 22, 2016.
