WATCH: Pixar Goes Back Under the Sea with the Teaser for FINDING DORY

Pixar is in a definite groove right now. Their first release this year, Inside Out, was a huge hit with both critics and audiences and had one of the largest openings of the year. That one release would make most movie studio’s decade, however this is Pixar, no mere animation studio. They are following up their hit just five months later with another original franchise, The Good Dinosaur. After creating two new properties this year, Pixar is going back to their toy chest to play with some familiar faces in 2016.

In 2003, Pixar had one of their largest hits with the underwater adventure Finding Nemo. The movie was an animated roadtrip comedy featuring a colorful cast, including a clown fish named Marlin and his forgetful companion, Dory. Marlin’s friend Dory, voiced by Ellen DeGeneres, stole the show and provided many of the laughs and heartwarming moments that made the movie a standout.

The sequel, Finding Dory, will center on the journey of the forgetful fish, as she travels from the Great Barrier Reef to the Monterey Marine Life Institute, to find her own family. The movie seems to highlight many of the same themes about the unbreakable bonds that are made between family and friends, that made the first resonate with audiences. From the short teaser you can see that they have combined the trademark Pixar charm and humor, with a visual landscape that makes you feel as though you are scuba diving. This could be a worthy follow-up. Enjoy the trailer.
