There is always something bittersweet about a franchise running its course and coming to an end. We were really first introduced to the notion of a trilogy serving as a complete story through the Lord of the Rings saga. Where director Peter Jackson utilized three films, like three acts of a drama to adapt a lengthy novel series. The formula has since been modified where the final installment is split into two chapters. The first part gets the pesky exposition out of the way and the final one delivers almost non-stop action. It looks like there is no exception to the rule for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2’s final trailer.
Fans are less than a month away from the conclusion to the franchise that has broke numerous records, while doing a great deal to legitimize lead female action stars. As well as propelling the career of Jennifer Lawrence into the stratosphere. In this “final” chapter (there have been rumblings that there could possibly be plans for more sequels set in the Hunger Games universe), the objective is simple. To assassinate the tyranical ruler President Snow, played with a wicked charm by Donald Sutherland.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 may have left a bad taste with many viewers, particularly those who hadn’t read the novels. Mostly due to the film being filled with exposition and tension, that isn’t able to be paid off until the second part. It seems that Lionsgate wanted to leave no doubt that this movie would bring all the action, explosions, and archery, that you would expect from the franchise. Enjoy it while you can, because the Katniss era is almost gone…
