2015 was a rough year for Fox Studios in regards to their Marvel films. The Fantastic Four was such a disaster, both at the box-office and in the public eye, that the movie will be studied by film historians for a time to come. However, Fox has positioned itself to have a rebound year in 2016, with two other Marvel properties that are tracking to be huge hits for the studio. In just two short months, the R-rated Deadpool opens in theaters, which will score with older audiences at a time when there isn’t much to see. In May, it will be followed by X-Men: Apocalypse, the finale to the critically acclaimed First Class trilogy.
In the next film, the X-Men face their greatest individual challenge in the immortal Apocalypse, played by Oscar Isaac (The Force Awakens, Ex Machina). He wages war against humankind in an effort to cull the master race and it’s up to a new band of mutants to prevent annihilation. The newest sequel brings back James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult, in their iconic roles, as well as adding fan favorite X-Men to the film, such as Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Ben Hardy as Angel, and Psylocke (Olivia Munn).
Director Bryan Singer is back for the fourth time in the director’s chair for the franchise and has found his stride. X-Men set a precedent in 2000 when it found a way to ground the comic book genre, while making its themes accessible to general audiences. The apocalyptic nature of X-Men: Apocalypse allows for a new color palette and visual style that frees Singer to go full speed ahead with the genre’s fantastic nature. By keeping the gravitas and cinematic flare of the past, while embracing the source material in a new way. There is a lot in this trailer to get excited about. Enjoy!

Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” director Bryan Singer returns with “X-Men: Apocalypse.” Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign.
