The newest trailer of Terminator: Genisys accomplished two things simultaneously. It made the movie look more action-packed than expected and instantaneously more polarizing. There has been a secretive cloud over the plot of the upcoming sequel, which will serve as a reboot for the franchise and the beginning of a new trilogy. After the disastrous Terminator: Salvation, the franchise changed studios and is the hands of an entirely new creative team led by screenwriter Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) and director Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World).

The most glaring reveal is the identity of the true villain of the film, John Conner, played by Jason Clarke. Somehow they managed to keep the fact that he is actually a Terminator a secret up until now. This should prove to be a huge point of controversy for long-time fans of the franchise. However it seems that we might be getting the most intimidating Terminator since Terminator 2: Judgement Day’s Robert Patrick. Surprisingly enough, Arnold Schwarzenegger seems to slip comfortably back into his signature role even with his advanced age. Clearly the significance of his T-800 model being outdated and over-matched will never be made more clear and should add to the action. Enjoy the new trailer.
