It’s a good time to be a Star Wars fan. The universe that George Lucas created is about to expand like never before. Star Wars Rebels set the stage with an animated family series that far exceeded expectations and an upcoming second season that looks to be even more fun. They followed that up with two teaser trailers that have blown away even the most skeptical viewers, with both its reverence for George Lucas’ original trilogy, while still making the movie feel on the cutting edge. Of course the movie theaters aren’t the only place to find the force, it’s also coming back to consoles and PC, with the long-awaited Star Wars: Battlefront.
The game series is set to make a return to the world of video games in a huge way. In a landscape that is dominated by franchises such as Call of Duty and Destiny, Battlefront is a sure bet to get a seat at the table with the big boys of the industry. As popular as Star Wars is today, it is on the verge of exploding over the course of the next year and a half.
Star Wars: Battlefront will give players and fans of the series, the best opportunity to virtually step into the franchise yet. The graphics have closed the gap between game and film visuals and it is hard to image anyone passing on the opportunity to battle on Hoth and Endor. While Battlefront takes place primarily in the original trilogy, there will be free downloadable content, that will include a skirmish on Jokka. The desert planet glimpsed in The Force Awakens trailers.
Apparently the DLC will recount the battle that took place years before the film, of when the Star Destroyer actually crashed into the planet. So after we experience Star Wars in the theaters, we will be able to jump online and participate in the mayhem. It is going to be an awesome winter in a galaxy far, far away.
Star Wars: Battlefront is scheduled to hit stores on November 17th, 2015.
