When the producers of Arrow announced that they were spinning their show off with The Flash, skeptics worldwide raised their flags of doubt. After taking huge measures to establish the Green Arrow character in a gritty and grounded world, suddenly the producers decided to go the other direction and introduced Barry Allen. Once The Flash became a hit on its own, the point of no return had been crossed. Suddenly a plan to create a separate DC Comics universe, set entirely on television, began to materialize.
Although the DC Comics’ television world would not be sharing a combined universe with the film world, there was a blueprint for a separate TV universe, just as vast and interconnected. The next dramatic step for CW was their newest show, Legends of Tomorrow, which combines fan-favorite supporting characters from both Arrow and The Flash.
Legends of Tomorrow stars Brandon Routh/Atom, Victor Garber/Firestorm, Wentworth Miller/Captain Cold, Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill), Ciara Renee/Hawkgirl, Dominic Purcell/Heat Wave, Franz Draeh/Jay Jackson, and Caity Lotz returning as White Canary, with guest appearances by both casts of The Flash and Arrow. The ambition of the show seems to be extraordinary and with a shortened season at 13 episodes, it is possible that we could be getting the most cinematic comic book experience on CW yet.
This newest trailer is a visual treat. It walks you through the entire DC/CW storyline, from the beginning of Arrow, to where things will go in the future with Legends of Tomorrow. We also get our first look at the design for Vandal Savage, the big villain for the first season. From the look of the trailer, they will not be shying away from his comic book origin, which is a strength of DC/CW productions overall. There are numerous shots from their shows that literally off of the comic book page. Legends of Tomorrow has an impressive pedigree, hopefully it will exceed expectations much like the shows that have come before it. Enjoy the trailer.
Official Synopsis:
When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?
