There have been a lot of solid horror film remakes in recent history. Whether it is an adaptation of foreign film like The Grudge. Or a remake of an American cult classic such as The Evil Dead, the track record for recreating classic horror movies is relatively strong. The latest flick to get renewed for a new generation is Poltergeist.
Poltergeist is a remake of the 1982 classic that was co-written (and allegedly directed as well) by Stephen Spielberg. The movie was a smash-hit about a house that is haunted by spirits, that abduct the household’s youngest daughter. The newest incarnation has a cast that forms a solid foundation for the film, led by Sam Rockwell. It seems that the story’s psychological elements and subtext will be kept in place and is looking to be one of the best horror options coming this summer. Enjoy the trailer.
Official Synopsis:
Legendary filmmaker Sam Raimi (“Spider-Man,” “Evil Dead,” “The Grudge”) and director Gil Kenan (“Monster House”) contemporize the classic tale about a family whose suburban home is haunted by evil forces. When the terrifying apparitions escalate their attacks and hold the youngest daughter captive, the family must come together to rescue her before she disappears forever.
Poltergeist opens on May 22nd, 2015.
