Pixar never lost their swagger. But for the first time since their inception, they may not have had the public’s total confidence in their decison-making. Despite being a merchandising goliath, movies such as Cars 2, managed to blemish Pixar’s track record and proved that the movie studio was not infallible in recent years. 

Earlier this summer, Inside Out just about wiped the slate clean when Pixar delivered another exemplary film. The journey of an 11 year old kid and the different emotions in her head, was a massive success both financially and critically. While the movie is getting ready for its DVD release, Pixar will be releasing its second movie of the year. This time around, Pixar escapes the confines of the human mind and goes back to prehistoric times, in The Good Dinosaur. The film takes place in an alternate history, where the meteor that caused the extinction of the dinosaurs, narrowly missed the Earth. The movie seems to be a classic boy and his dog tale, however there is a twist… The boy is a dinosaur named Arlo and the dog is a human child. 

While the footage in the trailer looks stunning and close to photorealistic in some spots, it still doesn’t feel like it has the familiar Pixar stamp. However, this is sure to change once we all sit down in our seats. The project has been in development for years and has been delayed several times, until the entire creative team was thrilled with the final project. So there is cause to think that this may be more to The Good Dinosaur than expected. Enjoy the trailer.

“The Good Dinosaur” asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? Pixar Animation Studios takes you on an epic journey into the world of dinosaurs where an Apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend. While traveling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears and discovers what he is truly capable of.

The Good Dinosaur opens on November 25th, 2015.
