Last year Pixar released The Good Dinosaur, which didn’t get the acclaim for its storytelling that the studio has grown accustomed to over the years. However, the visual effects and environments in the movie are near photo-realistic and set a new standard for the animation company. Pixar has an entire ocean to play with in their upcoming movie Finding Dory, the sequel to their 2003 classic Finding Nemo, and it’s like coming home.
The sequel focuses on the forgetful fish Dory, voiced again by Ellen DeGeneres, and the search for her family. The movie brings back Albert Brooks as Marlin, who will accompany Dory on her own journey this time around. Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy join the cast as the voices of Dory’s long-lost parents, while everyone’s favorite voice over artist, Idris Elba (The Jungle Book) also joins the movie in presumably a villainous role.
Pixar has a mixed record with their sequels. They have made one of the best trilogies ever with the Toy Story franchise, but they are also responsible for multiple Cars movies as well… The fact that they have taken 13 years to produce this sequel, should be a good indication that there’s a solid story and a fresh approach to the material. Enjoy the trailer.
