There has been a growing buzz for Walt Disney’s next animated feature Zootopia. The initial trailers and teasers focused on the humor that will be found in the upcoming feature, such as having sloths run the DMV. However, there wasn’t a sense of the overall tone and scope of the movie.
Disney recently released the third and most complete trailer for Zootopia. In addition, to getting a closer look at the complex animation and environment that they have constructed. We also get a sense of the subversive humor that is layered into the animated movie. In fact, from the looks of the trailer, Zootopia is a city that is made up of walking and talking animals, but it’s really meant to reflect our own world. Whether its the mother bunny sliding her child away from the seemingly docile tiger on the subway, or the lead being underestimated because of her species, the movie seems ripe for intelligent social commentary.
The movie is voiced by a cast featuring the voice talents of Jason Bateman, Ginnifer Goodwin, Idris Elba, Tommy Chong, J.K. Simmons, Octavia Spencer and more. It looks like this has the chance to be one of the more memorable animated films coming out this year. Check out the trailer:
Official Synopsis:
The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when optimistic Officer Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery.
Zootopia opens on March 4th, 2016.
