Last week the first trailer for Ghostbusters was released and it’s certainly a moment that will go down in infamy. The approach to the reboot instantly did not sit well with a majority of fans. No sign is more telling than the fact that the movie’s initial trailer has almost 400,000 Dislikes, to the just over 177,000 Likes. That level of negative feedback is unprecedented and speaks to the amount of passion that the franchise still has behind it.
Whether the movie is a historic flop, or goes on to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the year, this is a point in film history that will be documented. However, Sony Pictures is not content with simply standing by while their ocean liner sinks into the sea. The company became proactive and this morning released a new international trailer for the movie, which features more footage, gags, and Chris Hemsworth, than was found in the domestic trailer.
There is even a joke at the end of the trailer by Leslie Jones that seemingly attacks the elephant in the room, by questioning if the treatment she received is due to her race or gender. While this trailer is certainly an improvement over last week’s fiasco, it’s still too early to tell if the damage is beyond repair. Check out the trailer and judge for yourself.
