Growing up I wasn’t really a Doctor Who fan. The production values always kept my interest at arm’s length, due to production values that were on level with a show like Sesame Street. Consequently, I was never able to connect with the characters and mythology, even though fully aware that it did exist and might have value. The latest trailer for season 9 of Doctor Who was released at San Diego Comic Con recently and it just might make me a convert. 

From the looks of the trailer, Doctor Who finally has visuals as grand as the science-fiction ideas. Creator Steven Moffat seems to be respecting the history and canon of the series, while adding a completely modern feel. Peter Capaldi returns for his second season as the time-travelling Doctor and he looks to have grown even more comfortable with the role. Now that they took care of his introduction in the first season, they are going full speed ahead with the adventure.

It is hard to go without noticing the addition of Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams. Her involvement in the series has been kept under a huge veil of secrecy and it seems that her character will be equally as mysterious on the show as well. There are rumored to be a ton of other surprises in store for fans this season as well. There is a lot to look forward to this season. So take a look…
