WATCH: THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS Teaser Shows What Happens When You Leave The House

We have all wondered what really happens when we close the door and leave our pets at home. Well Illumination Entertainment, the studio behind Despicable Me and the upcoming Minions, is looking to create a new franchise and answer that question. Illumination has a track record of crafting endearing characters that both kids and adults enjoy. So exploring the hidden world our pets seems like a no-brainer. Every pet owner wonders what is really going on inside their pet’s head. Even more curious for many is how they keep themselves entertained for the long hours that they are left alone. It looks like we are going to find out in the upcoming movie, The Secret World of Pets

Illumination took an interesting approach in the casting of the movie. Instead of getting big name acting talent or voice actors, they primarily cast the movie with the comedians who are known for their writing and improvisational styles. The movie features funnymen like Louis C.K., and Kevin Hart, so its hard to imagine that this movie won’t be full of belly laughs. It is also directed by Chris Renaud, who has a solid track record with his work directing both Despicable Me movies, so it definitely has a solid foundation. While this teaser is cute, keep in mind that the film’s release is still over a year away, so this is just a snapshot of what the movie could be. However, it seems inevitable that The Secret Life of Pets will be a huge hit next year. Enjoy the trailer.

Official Synopsis:

For one bustling Manhattan apartment building, the real day starts after the folks on two legs leave for work and school. That’s when the pets of every stripe, fur and feather begin their own nine-to-five routine: hanging out with each other, trading humiliating stories about their owners, or auditioning adorable looks to get better snacks. The building’s top dog, Max (voiced by Louis C.K.), a quick-witted terrier rescue who’s convinced he sits at the center of his owner’s universe, finds his pampered life rocked when she brings home Duke (Eric Stonestreet), a sloppy, massive mess of a mongrel with zero interpersonal skills. When this reluctant canine duo finds themselves out on the mean streets of New York, they have to set aside their differences and unite against a fluffy-yet-cunning bunny named Snowball (Kevin Hart), who’s building an army of Ex-Pets abandoned by their owners and out to turn the tables on humanity…all before dinnertime.

The Secret Life of Pets opens on July 8th, 2016.
