We are less than 60 days away from the moment that you have been waiting for. Lucasfilm has fired shots into the air signalling the arrival return of Star Wars to movie theaters and into the collective imagination of millions of fans. There is the possibility that Star Wars: The Force Awakens could end up the most beloved movie in the entire series. But even if it isn’t, there is still reason to be excited for the following sequels and spin-offs that will be released yearly.

This is the most comprehensive look that we have gotten from the upcoming blockbuster. Director J.J. Abrams was faced with a seemingly impossible task. He had to walk a thin tightrope by making The Force Awakens respectful of the world that was created before, yet having to push the series into the future. So that the caravan of directors and storytellers that follow him would have a solid foundation to create quality Star Wars films.

In this trailer we are given our formal introduction to the next generation of Star Wars faces. We hear the voices of Finn, Rey, and Kylo Ren for the first time, while each character takes their turn at sharing their character’s perspective or motivation. Han Solo’s narration is not a throwaway line either. In Star Wars: A New Hope, Solo is a skeptic and we now find him in the position of the mentor, which will be a fulfilling character arc. There is a lot to get into, but let’s just watch it a few more times and let it sink in… It’s a good time to be a fan of the Force. Enjoy the trailer!
