Fox has finally gotten their house of Marvel in order. The studio’s full assault on the comic book movie market officially begins this week with friday’s release of Deadpool. The film is tracking extremely well and looks to be a low-risk gamble that will pay off in spades. A few months later Fox will be releasing the crown jewel of their comic book cinematic universe with X-Men: Apocalypse, which will set the status quo for the entire X-Men franchise.
Fox took advantage of the Superbowl blitz by releasing a 30-second spot that showed off more of the mutant mayhem that is waiting for audiences in theaters in May. The commercial highlighted many of the superpowers, as well as the cataclysmic scope of Bryan Singer’s fourth time at the helm of an X-Men film.
There seems to be a lot to look forward to, as the movie appears to have a scope well beyond any X-Men film that has preceded it. As the release date looms closer, it’s apparent more of the visual effects have been completed and they look close to flawless. The movie looks to be an embarrassment of riches that will just continue to grow in the near future and we couldn’t be more excited. Enjoy the trailer!
Official Synopsis:
Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” director Bryan Singer returns with “X-Men: Apocalypse.” Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
X-Men: Apocalypse opens on May 27th, 2016.
