WATCH: The Teaser Trailer for Disney’s Live-Action Retelling of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

You have to look no farther than the Box Office Reports section to find out why Disney is digging into their own library of material to bring back to the big screen. The studio has countless animated classics that have remained largely untapped for over fifty years. The first leap was Tim Burton’s sloppy adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, which went on to gross over a billion dollars. Since then, they have refined their formula with flicks such as Maleficent and Cinderella both being hits, however they recently hit their stride this year with Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book.

The newest, and perhaps most anticipated, of Disney’s new live-action fairy tales coming to theaters is the classic Beauty and the Beast. It seems that the burgeoning sub-genre has just hit its stride and the studio’s next attempt may be their crowning jewel. They enlisted the talents of Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) to direct the musical, whose background is a perfect fit for the majestic story. Emma Watson (Harry Potter series) takes the next big step in her career by starring as Belle, the target of the Beast’s (Dan Stevens) affections. The supporting cast is filled with big name talent, such as Ian McKellen, Josh Gad, Emma Thompson, and Kevin Kline, who are all easy to envision in their iconic roles.

This is the true definition of a teaser trailer, only giving a sense of the tone and production design for the film. It seems that this will be a faithful adaptation, much like last year’s Cinderella and it’s easy to see this being a huge success next spring. Check out the trailer and let us know what you thought of it. Enjoy!
