Audiences have marveled over how the CW network has successfully created an entire separate universe out of their available DC Comics’ properties. It began in 2012 with a hyper-realistic retelling of the Green Arrow comics in Arrow, which legitimized the genre for the network. The success of the show embolden producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg, and Geoff Johns, to use an episode as a de facto pilot for The Flash that went on to become an even bigger success. Both shows created a universe that was overflowing with characters, so another spin-off, Legends of Tomorrow was spawned from both hits. This past fall, the same producing team launched yet another successful show, Supergirl, albeit on the CBS network and proved that they have the magical touch.
The news dropped recently that Supergirl would be moving from CBS to CW and would be filming up in Toronto with the other superhero shows. Today the network released the fall schedule and exactly where the new addition would fit in. Supergirl kept its Monday slot at 8pm, with The Flash on Tuesdays, Arrow on Wednesdays, and Legends of Tomorrow staying on Thursdays. In other words, the CW wants you to know that 8pm belongs to DC Comics’ heroes.
Since the announcement, fans have wondered how Supergirl and its cast will cross over with the established shows, but that should be part of the fun. It also should be noted how Vixen is highlighted in the sizzle reel as well, which indicates bigger things are in the character’s future. However, the most exciting news is that it was confirmed that a four-night crossover is in the works. If the past is any indication, this is the closest thing to the Justice League on television that fans have ever gotten in live-action, so it should truly be a monumental event. Here is the beginning of next fall’s CW superhero lineup. Enjoy!
