There has been many theories about why Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice became such a polarizing movie this past spring. The movie had huge expectations as it was the springboard to an entire slate of DC Comics based films. While having a strong opening, BvS had a meteoric free fall and landed hundreds of million of dollars below the most conservative industry predictions for the movie. There are many explanations and scapegoats for why the theatrical release felt choppy and uneven, with word of an extended cut existing even while the film was still in theaters. 

Late this month Warner Bros will be releasing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on home video and this will not be your average Blu-Ray. The Ultimate Edition, 0r a more PC way of saying Director’s Cut, clocks in at 3 hours and 2 minutes and is jam-packed with features. This is not unusual for director Zack Snyder who has gained a reputation for making quality special editions, most notably the extended versions of Watchmen, is seen as one of the better home releases in recent memory. However, none of this will really matter if the new version doesn’t clear up some of the confusion with the theatrical cut. Even then, all of the extra scenes aren’t in canon anyways, but the hope is that the viewing experience will be more enjoyable.

The Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, and Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack all feature both the theatrical and Ultimate Edition versions, while the DVD only includes the theatrical version of the film.

The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, 3D Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, and Standard Definition 2-Disc DVD contain the following special features:

Additionally, all Blu-ray discs of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition will feature a Dolby Atmos soundtrack remixed specifically for the home theater environment to place and move audio anywhere in the room including overhead. To experience Dolby Atmos at home, a Dolby Atmos enabled AV receiver and additional speakers are required. Dolby Atmos soundtracks are fully backward compatible with traditional audio configurations and legacy home entertainment equipment that aren’t Dolby Atmos Compatible.
