WATCH: The Trailer for the New Marvel TV Show JESSICA JONES is Here!

The boundaries of the Marvel cinematic universe continue to grow and new ground was broken this past April when Daredevil made its debut. The critically acclaimed show trekked into a mature side of Marvel Comics that had not yet been explored in live-action. However, Marvel and Netflix’s plans did not end there. They have a total of five shows in the works and the next character to get her introduction to the Netflix world is Jessica Jones.

Melissa Rosenbaum (Twilight) is bringing the troubled character to life in a 13-episode season. Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad) plays Jones, a private detective that is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. In the comics, she was a former superhero that hung up the tights after several incidents that would forever change her life. It looks as if they are staying extremely faithful to the source material that was written by Brian Michael Bendis and not shying away from the more shocking aspects of Jones’ story.

The supporting cast is filled with gifted actors that should make fans of Marvel and quality acting very happy. In the trailer, we are introduced to Marvel Comics heavy-hitter Luke Cage, played by Mike Colter, for the first time. It seems as if he will be primarily in supporting role, but fans of the comics understand that they end up with one of the most steamy and genuine relationships in Marvel. Get used to seeing Colter’s face, as he is in the midst of filming his own Luke Cage solo series for Netflix as you are reading this.

The big boss of the first season is Kilgrave, played by Doctor Who’s David Tennant. Fans of the comic know him as the Purple Man, who has the ability to control minds and influence people’s will. He is no ordinary comic book villain who wants to blow up the world. His methods are terrifying and he has no conscience when he manipulates people’s will. The Kilgrave has the opportunity to be the next iconic villain in the MCU. Rosario Dawson is also in the cast, reprising her role as Claire Temple, which should again make the show feel more cinematic with her presence. There is a lot of reasons to be hopeful as Marvel seems to have another strong show on their hands. Enjoy the trailer!

Official Synopsis:

After a tragic ending to her short-lived Super Hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a private detective in Hell’s Kitchen. It’s time the world knew her name…

Jessica Jones will be available on Netflix on November 20th, 2015.
