One thing has held true for Warner Bros’ recent development process, they have telegraphed their feature films with animated movies to prepare the market. We have gotten Wonder Woman, Batman: Assault on Arkham, and Aquaman: Throne of Atlantis, which now all have solo feature films with Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and the Suicide Squad characters at the center. With that in mind, the newest film from WB animation is Justice League vs Teen Titans.
This movie is coming on the heels of the recent announcement that TNT shut down the television adaptation called Titans. Fans were concerned that the property would go into hibernation before rumors surfaced that bigger plans were in store for the heroes. While the grander plans remain hidden, we do know that Cyborg has a film in development. Although its unclear if his other Titan members will cameo, since he will be a full-fledged member of the Justice League by then. However, the next upcoming animated film is signaling that they are taking the Titans seriously. So much so that they are facing off against the best that the DC universe has to offer in Justice League vs Teen Titans.
The first look shows off the same flashy style which has defined WB/DC animation recently. It will be interesting to see what kind of scenarios that the writers have cooked up to give Titans a chance in the uphill fight. The voice cast features some legitimate stars with Jerry O’ Connell as Superman, Rosario Dawson as Wonder Woman, and Jon Bernthal as Trigon. Enjoy the trailer.
Official Synopsis:
Justice League vs. Teen Titans welcomes the Teen Titans to the ever-expanding canon of classic DC Comics characters within the DC Universe Original Movies. When Damian’s over-aggressive tendencies almost destroy a Justice League mission, he is sent to learn teamwork by training alongside the Teen Titans. However, adjusting Damian’s attitude turns out to be the least of the Teen Titans’ troubles as Raven’s satanic, world-conquering father Trigon begins an escape from his inter-dimensional prison. To complete his return, Trigon must have Raven’s assistance – and to accomplish his goal, he spreads his demonic forces across the globe, infiltrating the minds and bodies of the Justice League to do his bidding. To save the universe and prevent a literal hell on Earth, the Teen Titans must rescue – or defeat – the Justice League, and in turn Trigon for all eternity.
Justice League vs. Teen Titans will be available as a Digital HD release on March 29th and on Blu-ray and DVD on April 12th.
