Vin Diesel has got to feel on top of the world. He is the star and a producer on Furious 7, which has gone on to become one of the highest grossing movies of all time. The action movie has dominated the box-office for the past month and the wheels are already turning on the next installment of the trademark franchise. However, Diesel is looking to diversify his action movie credentials and is going medieval in the upcoming film, The Last Witch Hunter.
It makes complete sense that Summit Entertainment would seize the moment and release the trailer for Diesel’s next vehicle at this time. The Last Witch Hunter stars Diesel as the immortal witch hunter, Kaulder, who has been living in secret for ages, engaging in a hidden war with witches in NYC. The trailer looks part Blade, part Highlander, and part hella dumb. Diesel looks like he literally walked off of the set of Furious 7, grabbed a flaming sword and started talking about witches instead of family. This first look is not very encouraging…
On the positive side, the movie also stars Elijah Wood who has developed an unhinged acting style by going for broke in the wildest projects, ranging from Wilfred to Maniac. Plus they played dirty by including Michael Caine in the cast. There is no better person to hear talk about a coming apocalypse, or anything frankly. Hopefully his inclusion means that there is more than meets the eye for the The Last Witch Hunter. We shall see…
