Warner Bros unconventional approach to J.K. Rowling’s book series changed the way that Hollywood approached making blockbuster franchises. WB cast a host of kid actors who grew up along with the characters that they were portraying. The result is an eight-movie story that entertained an entire generation of fans. When the series came to an end in 2011, it seemed that WB had exhausted the franchise and had turned their attention to putting their stable of DC Comics’ characters on the big-screen. Then J.K. Rowling had the idea to write a spin-off story, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, about a British “magizoologist” named Newt Scamander.
If the name rings a bell, he was the author of the novel within the Harry Potter novel called “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.” Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) portrays Scamander, who is charged with traveling the world and classifying all of the magical beast that roam the land. The film follows him in 1926, when his suitcase of magical beasts is unleashed upon New York City. The teaser is a simple announcement, but is effective in bringing you back into the world of Harry Potter and rekindling the sense of fantastic adventure that the original series had. Official Synopsis:
“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident… were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” also stars Katherine Waterston (“Steve Jobs,” “Inherent Vice”) as Tina; Tony Award winner Dan Fogler (“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”) as Jacob; Alison Sudol (“Dig,” “Transparent”) as Tina’s sister, Queenie; Ezra Miller (“Trainwreck”) as Credence; two-time Oscar nominee Samantha Morton (“In America,” “Sweet and Lowdown”) as Mary Lou; Oscar winner Jon Voight (“Coming Home,” TV’s “Ray Donovan”) as Henry Shaw, Sr.; Ron Perlman (the “Hellboy” films) as Gnarlack; Carmen Ejogo (“Selma”) as Seraphina; Jenn Murray (“Brooklyn”) as Chastity; young newcomer Faith Wood-Blagrove as Modesty; and Colin Farrell (“True Detective”) as Percival Graves.
